Introductions

Hello, everyone.

Scott here, from the northwest suburbs of Chicago. My wife and I are in the beginning of our looong quest to open our cafe. I'm interested in meeting conneseurs, probably asking for a lot of advice... and hopefully I'll someday reach a point where I have some of my own insight to offer as well.

Name's Yuriy, I'm 17 years old and quite literate compared to others older than me when it comes to coffee. Although I'm a huge fan of the french press, every once in a while I'll get a pot of turkish coffee going, or a nice strong americano. I live in the Seattle area and whenever I have a few bucks to spare, I just go out with a friend and go from coffee shop to coffee shop. I'm finally starting to get latte art down, and have become pretty good at etching (I dare you to find another starbucks barista that can say that). Me and a friend have been looking into opening up a coffee house recently too. Anyway, I just wanna learn more about coffee, and get to know a couple cool ppl while I'm at it.

Hi, just kind of found this place and love all things coffee

Years ago i used to work for a large commercial roaster where we sold lousy coffee and the customer would blame him/herself ("I can't make a good cup of coffee")...thought to be a marketing dream until the customer eventually caught on. Serves em right, you wouldn't believe some of the stuff that went down (tho i am neither a basher or a 'coffee snob')

Well I'm outta there and love great coffee when i get my hands on that occaisional rare cup. Still quite in touch with the business side of the industry and look forward to participating.

Seems like there's lots of introductions going on and no replies. So, I'm not exactly a long-time member here, but...

Hello, Coffeenote! Good to have you here!

Hello Dere

Hello all you coffee enthusiasts.

I am Eric from the Santa Cruz area in California. I have been roasting my own coffee for a year (and I''m never going back :) ). I am not getting anywhere on my own so I am hoping to pick up some knowledge here. Some day, hopefully I will be able to give some thing back.

Hello! I'm Jeanne and like most of the other people here (who don't already have a cafe/cart/roasting bis) I plan to open a coffee cafe in the next year. I have teamed up with a partner who is opening a bakery to open jointly. We are fortunate enough to live in a rapidly growing area, major road (24,000 traffic count currently) and the closest coffee is Charbucks in B&N almost 20 miles away. No bakeries near either.

Have loved coffee forever, but have been roasting my own for over a year and can't imagine ever doing anything else!

Hello everyone! I found this forum when i googled \" coffee\". Well done!
I just joined up 10 minutes ago and i find all the post entertaining and helpful. Just to prove to the old adage that you learn something new everyday.

I''m from the Philippines and i love coffee. I used to frequent Starbucks, coffee bean & tea leaf and UCC, Sometimes i even find myself in Seattle''s Best. Since i bought a starbucks barista and burr grinder last November 2005, i usually brew my own cup. However, when I''m out of the house and i need my caffeine fix or just a night cap with friends, i still find myself in a coffee house. I grind my lavazza or caffe mauro beans. I still dunno how to roast my own beans. Hopefully i will learn the art someday and find time to practice it. For the past 6 months, i have discovered the french press and usually brew my cup this way especially when I''m in a hurry to get to work in the mornings. Funny thing is that I''m probably the only one who orders pressed coffee at the local starbucks branch housed in our hospital building such that whenever they see me come in, they start getting the press out of their counter cabinet.

Looking forward to learning much more about our fave drink and someday i might give something back in return.

new to the forums - hi!

wow - in the few minutes since i''ve found the forums here (thanks, google) i''ve read a lot of great information! i love starbucks, and drink my own coffee at home using a senseo... i basically started doing some research here since my coffee at home never tastes as good as the stuff you can buy just about anywhere else! the senseo appeals to me since my hubbie does not drink coffee, but lives by coca-cola morning, noon and night. then i read the first novel in the coffeehouse mystery series by cleo coyle and realized that i have a lot to learn about coffee if i am to try to improve my at home brewing and enjoyment! i think i''d like to start with an easy at-home espresso machine so that i can make some decent lattes. i don''t usually drink coffee without lots of cream and splenda, but if i could make a decent espresso, i bet i''d be on the right road towards truly appreciating a quality cup of coffee! so there you have it. i live outside of washington, d.c. and need your help! thanks for listening!
:-D

Welcome

Welcome thinkattitude, I recently bought a great combo coffee machine from Delonghi that makes regular coffee and espresso because my wife doesn't like strong coffee. It works great. If you would like some good coffee visit my site. I also sell coffee equipment.
