I was wondering if anyone has seen any new or cool coffee urns. We use the Wilbur Curtis 1 gallon pots with the timer tops. My boss hates them. I think they look super clean. The problem I have with them is the timers. They break pretty easily. My boss said he is looking for "COOL" sigh...
I remember years ago. I mean like 10 years or maybe even longer, a guy had these air roasters that you could walk up and choose what you wanted exactly. Blend and roast profile. He said that it was all automated and that it was going to put all of us professional roasters out of business. I...
I know they change vendors from time to time. I know my friend roasted for them for years and just lost their contract. Could be its someone else roasting it.
If you are a home roaster they might work for you. If you are a business you will want to find a broker..if you want I am can send you some phone numbers. Also if you are home roaster a good trick is to find a local roaster and buy green from them.
I just can't see how you can keep up if you are truly custom roasting to order. Why are you so secretive of your roasting process/operation? Most people are proud to show off what they do and have. I look forward to hearing of your success.
2 kilo roaster puts off about as much smoke as a barbecue grill. I have never heard of anyone needing an afterburner for a 2 kilo roaster. Let us know what they say. If they require one let us know. I found an alternate pollution controller for the fraction of a gas operated one at the...
What size roaster do you have? The reason I ask is lets say you have 10 different blends. That's 10 different batches. Even if you are one of these new school roasters that roasts at 9 minutes that is 90 minutes to produce only 10 lbs. If you have anything over a 2 kilo you will have left...
$2.65?? Wow. They must have a small roaster. If you want to take a mini vacation in Paradise come on down and I will knock it out for ya at a buck a lb. How much green are you buying at one time?
I think it definitely a huge benefit if you can roast onsite. The smell would draw people in. Is it a pain in the ass to lug it around? Sure but so many people have never experienced coffee being roasted and think you would draw a crowd! Good luck and let us know how you do. As for...
Are you providing the green? If you are looking for a price for "toll roasting" and packaging I would say you are looking at about $1 a lb. I wouldn't personally do it for any cheaper than that. You would have to provide the green, bags and boxes. Hope this helps.
CPavari. I wish you well on your business. I just do not know how you are going to be able to keep off when this takes off. I roast to order now and it is tricky with only offering what I offer...I can't imagine customizing every order. The last company I worked for was an online...
If you are looking to roast just save money don't. You will pay about the same if not more than buying local. Unless you get in with a local roaster. I sell to a few friends at cost of what I pay. I just did a check on a coffee I pay around $1.90 a lb. An online green coffee retailer sells...
I would like to add that though this is not a well known brand and very inexpensive the one I bought brand new is still running after 8 years with no issues ever. The one we bought used disappeared(think an employee took it when that company sold)
My son drives long haul. He has a pretty sweet set up. He has a burr grinder(forgot which one he went with) a Clever dripper, cold brew brewer and a bodum water kettle . The Clever dripper makes a great cup of coffee and is super cheap. It's not glass so it wont break. He did have to cut the...
Sae. I had one at my last roastery. The one we had was temperamental and a pain in the ass. You had to have an engineering degree to work on it. They are super expensive as well. What kind of volume are you trying to do?
I would be careful about having employees picking up goods for you. If they get in an accident you are screwed. I used to have a coffee shop next to an Albertsons(shows you it was a LONG time ago.) The dairy manager hated me. I would go in and buy all of his stock. He confronted me once and...
I was wondering if anyone had an experience with the ifill k-cup machine. I spoke to them when they first started and the prices seem to have come down. The machine in the video claims to be able to produce 70,000 cups day. Would love to hear opinions or experiences.
I might actually consider it. I need an new project. Yes I can pedal. You have to to start it by pedaling..just like the old mopeds. You're cute...if it wont start. I built it. Plus pedaling will only get you to about 10 mph. Why do that when you can go 55+?
You can call Frank Wells at Flavormatic inc. Flavormatic Industries, Inc. manufacture and distribution of flavors, fragrances and essential oils worldwide he is a great dude. He has the flavors you need to make syrups. I am going to be honest with you though...it is a pain in the ass. The...
Well congrats on your success! Have you looked into any roasters for yourself yet? I would be happy to talk to you on my experience. I will send you a PM with my info.
I will write about my experience on the revelation after I have spoken to the manufacturer. I played on one a little bit a couple of weeks ago. I just want to understand the controls a little better before I give my thoughts. The one I used was BIG. Only a 70 kilo but massive compared to my...
Welcome to the forums! I am going to be ordering one of your shirts tomorrow. They look great! I noticed you only offer 2 different coffees..and you are sold out. Are you roasting your own or buying from a roastery?
I would go stand alone for exactly what Musicphan said and also it is more that can go wrong with your unit. If the grinder dies on the unit you are screwed.
Odella, Can you send a picture of what you are using and what the four corner sealed bags look like? I have received samples from Roastar, Sav-on bag https://www.sav-onbags.com , Pacific bag co Coffee Bags, Foil Bag, Paper Bag Wholesale & Flexible Food Packaging, Box Bottom Bags, Flat Bottom...
I developed a whole menu for coffee based alcoholic beverages. Irish coffee is great but I prefer Gaelic coffee personally. One of our top sellers was coffee with cointreau and godiva chocolate liqueur topped with whipped cream.
Funny story. First time I used it was great. I followed the instructions perfectly. I was in my kitchen and it was New years Eve of 2016/2017. We had company over and all espresso to start the night off. We switched to harder drinks from there. That was early around 7pm. Around midnight I...

I found the app. I am not sure what to do with it. You have "Roast Name", "beans" and "steps". The app has a timer at the top. Not sure why when you stop the timer it doesn't log it to "Steps" I really didn't understand how the app worked..maybe I was looking at it wrong. Just for s and g's...
Hey guys! I have a local brewery I have worked with the past 10 years looking for some green Kopi Lowak. I know I know it's b.s. yadda yadda but the thing is it sells. He and I did a collaboration years ago with kopi. He called it the entitled brew. Well he wants to do it again. Does...
I think they are referring to green coffee diet pills. We had loads of people asking about this when it first was featured on some daytime talk show a couple of years back. Best weight loss is done through a proper diet and exercise.
Have you tried speaking to local roasters? I did a quick google search and found these. Hope someone is willing to help you out.

Are you talking UPC? If so you will have to apply for a GS1 and then pay for the upc codes. It seems like a waste unless you are going to go into larger markets. I assume your register has sku buttons that you can assign your different products to. It's a bit basic but will give you an...
I would contact the department of agriculture. At least in Florida we report to them not the health department. Good luck and let us know how you got on .
I knew someone that had this problem on an older probat. Their solution was to keep a rubber mallet by the roaster. Couple of whacks and no stuck beans. 300 lbs on a sample roaster? I do not envy you ;)
I stand corrected. There are some here that are not in the business but are home enthusiasts. Not sure what you implying in this statement , "some of us might have bit different notion about coffee industry and how we spend the profits from the coffee" You saying that you do this for free?
I am now just getting back into the swing of things. I had a blast in GB for the New Years! I spent 9 days over there and was blown away by the growing coffee industry there. It is barely tapped! In the states you can throw a stone and hit a shop. I wish I could move over and be a part of...
I just wanted to take a quick moment to wish all of you a Happy Holiday! I am headed to Manchester for a New Years celebration. I hope you all have a wonderful and safe one! I hope next year is as awesome as this one was!
Erik....i've had mine for years and have never had an issue. I take that back...burns. That lil thing gets HOT! Other than the risk of burns/scars it is awesome. I got burned a lot the first few times I used it...learned my lesson and haven't been burned in years. I usually only roast 3 to 4...
I wasn't knocking your business model ...just pointing out the price difference. Then again these smaller roasters are selling coffee at $18 to $30 a lb. So I guess it works out. ;)
The problem is why you buy smaller amounts it cost you more money per pound. My roastery is tiny. I can only store a 100 bags at a time. I wish I had more room...hopefully a bigger place is on the horizon.
Welcome to the forums! What part of Scotland are you in? I spent a lot of time in Dunoon as a child and teen. My wife is from Clyde Band and when we visited last I had a hard time finding coffee shops other than Costa and Starbucks. I am headed to England in a week and am excited that I...
