Why does Starbucks have expensive coffee?

Because they are basing their coffee chain on the Italian style cafes. If you compare them to your local coffee shop, I recommend you go there to get quality coffee, you will be paying more for coffee and bags of coffee which are mainly whole bean. I stopped go to Starbucks years ago the day I visited a local coffee shop. Best decision I made with my coffee choice.

I am not denying that Starbucks coffee is not high quality, because it is. Some of his recipes are over 25 years old and have not changed since then.

However, I must admit that the products have a brand surcharge. You can find coffee beans of the same quality at a lower price.

Branding, top locations, staff, all that costs $$$ and... they just want to earn money as any other business. Should you buy from them if you are not at a railway station and have access to a good local roastery? I would choose the latter.
