A friend of mine in Venezuela is looking to export coffee and asked me to enquire on pricing. I'm not in the industry so I don't know much. I do know that it's delicious coffee and I'm Colombian living in the SF Bay, so I've had my fair share of good coffee. I would buy it. I think it has potential. He says that his beans are 85 points. What is the price range he can expect? I some prices in another thread, but wasn't sure per what quantity. Does the importing region affect price? I'd be helping him sell it here in the Bay Area. Thank you all in advance

I'm sort of new to this part of the industry, but I would recommend he or she reach out to some importers - RedFox, Sustainable Harvest, Covoya, Atlas, Royal, and Cafe Imports. They will ask for samples, or might even book a trip to come visit the farm. With coffee trading, comes logistical links in the supply chain. Farmer/producer to exporter to importer to roaster to wholesaler to retailer - and the price goes up each time in order for each link to make money. As a roaster, when I purchase coffee at $3-7 a pound from an importer, there's sometimes little transparency about how much of that is getting back to the exporter or the producer for that matter.
