Hi All,
I just wanted to share a combination that I have been doing every day since becoming involved in Brewing Cocoa (cocoa beans roasted, ground and brewed). I brew my cocoa cowboy coffee style or the 'Mayan Method' - pot, water, heat, brewing cocoa. (period.) Brew and simmer for a minimum of 12-15 mins... then use this brewed cocoa for your water in a french press... that is, add the brewed cocoa (grounds and all) to your favorite coffee grounds in a french press - let steep for 5-7mins. (minimum) and then press. I think the Mocha flavor w/o the sugar sweetness is pure HEAVEN. Try it.. let me know what you think!!
Thanks,
CocoaJoe

Interesting.

I've been brewing cocoa "cowboy" style" for a few months but never considered mixing cocoa and coffee in the manner you laid out above. I'll be giving it a try for sure.

Thanks.

This sounds better than me using that old sock.... Going to try this out tonight. It sounds like it could be a real hit! Now, to just find a place that sells a french press! (yeah, I live in a place where the culture just brews their coffee with socks.... So... Finding a french press might be a tad difficult)

As mentioned above, the cocoa extracts much better in boiling water. Boil the cocoa for as long as you want and then strain and use that water in the french press or even dunk the sock in the freshly boiled cocoa.
