I found a lot of information on caffeine and its withdrawal effects here http://www.faqs.org/faqs/caffeine-faq/

Actually if you had read the whole post this is what you would have seen.

Toxic dose

The LD_50 of caffeine (that is the lethal dosage reported to kill
50% of the population) is estimated at 10 grams for oral
administration. As it is usually the case, lethal dosage varies
from individual to individual according to weight. Ingestion of
150mg/kg of caffeine seems to be the LD_50 for all people. That
is, people weighting 50 kilos have an LD_50 of approx. 7.5 grams,
people weighting 80 kilos have an LD_50 of about 12 grams.

In cups of coffee the LD_50 varies from 50 to 200 cups of coffee
or about 50 vivarins (200mg each).

As with a lot of things, people have a tendency to believe the worst of a
perfectly harmless product. The health benefits of caffeine are well
documented.
If you're dumb enough to drink more than 50 cups a day it would be like
putting a turbo charger on your heart. You could blow a gasket.

This is what happens when I try to stop drinking Coffee

1. :x I get absolutly Moody I need to wake up

2. Headaches

3. I end up falling sleep again.

4. I wouldn''t want to quit anyway. :-D

i typically have 3-4 espressos a day

when i travel i get headaches for 3 days because i have no espressos. i would start everyday by havening one less espresso than the previous day.

You would most likely die of water intoxication before the caffeine would kill you.

Assuming coffee has 100mg of caffeine per 8oz, that would equate to about 6.25 gallons of coffee you would have to down to hit the lethal dose.

Went to Italy for a week and drank about 6 espressos a day.

Got back home and to work where I cannot drink coffee at the office (they have it but it is horrid and I have *standards*) so could only have the one at home in the morning. Had splitting headaches for two days - then was fine. Not the end of the world, but honestly, why give up caffeine at all?

So we can become a Utopian society, where we fly around in our starship mapping pulsating quasar's and complaining of how the man still suppresses us!

Sorry went off on a tangent. Caffeine is good! :p

Withdrawal time

From personal experience, I've found that stopping all intake of caffeine (including chocolate, coca cola and pain killers containing caffeine) for three weeks is long enough to break the tolerance. After this period, I experienced the full effects of caffeine at normal levels (one cup).
