Where can I buy good coffee online?

Just a hunch, based on being a roaster... if it's the bestest/freshet/highest grade specialty coffee you're after, then you're not going to find it on Amazon. Maybe, just maybe, if when an order is placed on Amazon it gets routed to a roaster who fulfills the order in a day, then maybe.

With the abundance of great roasters, both local (if you're lucky) and online, not to mention those of us members here who roast, why would anyone look to Amazon? They would have the advantage of being a one-stop place to shop and choose, but I'd put my coffee up against any of them.

Shop local. And if that doesn't work, support a coffeeforums member.

hey roasters in our forum.

this is quite interesting. I just call the company and talked to the owner, Stoney. I asked him how he 'smoke' the coffee for 12 hours. and i asked him whether he roast the beans first in regular way and "smoke" them. he said that he does not roast the bean first then smoke. And he said he can not say much more because that is "trade secrete" and would not give me detailed info. Which I completely understand. if his coffee is that good and that innovative, I wouldn't either.

but my question is that ... is that possible? "smoke" coffee / specially green coffee/ for 10 to 12 hours to have different flavors??? WoW... speaking of s l o w roast...

I know that we have a lot of great roasters, bob, peter and john...etc. Perhaps you can give us some insights.
thanks guys.

1) It sounds like a gimmick, looking for a new niche in the coffee world.

2) It may appeal to those who want their coffee to taste like something other than coffee, i.e., flavored coffee. Some of us like our coffee to taste like coffee, and if there is an inherent 'apple' or 'berry' or 'caramel' flavor, that's great. But it's a flavor that mother nature put there.

i think that you might be absolutely right. because when i checked their online sales coffee items, everything is "smoked flavored" coffee. there is not even one regular REAL COFFEE.
so I guess it might be same thing as buying Amaretto flavored robusta coffee from Stater Brothers....... Still bit interesting marketing concept !

Lyndsie...Just a few things. First I want to welcome you to the forums. If you could please read the rules as this is a spam free forum. On to the coffee..slow roasted is one thing but if you roast coffee too slow you end up with a baked flavor(not a good thing) how do you keep the coffee moving for 12 hours? If the coffee is just sitting in a smoker how does it come out even? I can't imagine putting coffee in a smoker for say 200 to 300 degrees is going to actually roast the coffee..especially for 12 hours. One piece of advice, when describing your coffee I would suggest not using the word cheap. Lastly you might want to talk to the owner about your site. Where the price is listed it has $11.99 and it is crossed out...the price that is higher is not. Well hope you return and see this and do some research. There are loads of great people here that are very knowledgeable and willing to help ;)

Lyndsiestonebrewed, Welcome to the forum!

Having never tasted smoked coffee, I cannot make a judgement on the taste.
Solomon said, there is "nothing new under the sun". Maybe there is, or it has been done before.
As a roaster, I am always reminded that "taste is subjective". Some folks like the smokey burnt
taste of coffee, so this niche might be right up their alley. My personal preference is what Peter
alluded to. The characteristics and nuances of each individual origin. Also, I have enjoyed blended coffee.

Regarding Topher's comment and numbers and using them. Since, I very rarely do any smoking of meats, etc.
If over the 12 hours of smoking the coffee and the internal bean temp only reaches 300*. Then the beans will not take their own heat.
The endothermic temp must reach 347*. So, it would be interesting to see a cross-cut section of the beans after roasting.
Then again, maybe it is just a full smoke permeation of the bean after such a prolonged time?
Here I plead ignorance.

Must say, I am intrigued. By the way, Stone Brewed Coffee has a great looking website. Congrats!

The finest Arabic coffee in the world

I am new to this forum and allow me to make a suggestion. I am based in Kenya and you may know that Kenya produces the finest Arabica coffee in the world. I work with a bank, The Agricultural Finance Corporation (AFC) the only financial institution dedicated solely to agriculture in Kenya. AFC has launched a new scheme that will link coffee buyers with large producer cooperatives as a way of ensuring both the farmers and buyers get the best prices possible. The scheme is called M-lima which basically intends to exploit emerging technologies to make these connections. Presently we have large cooperatives with more than 200 tones of high quality Arabica coffee beans , grade AA and AB which are the highest qualities in the market. You can get in touch with me and I will facilitate all this.
