Well, I didn't just start somewhere, but what I didn't know was the scale was badly out of calibration, and the calibration mode would not bring it into accuracy, I took the scale apart today which basically broke it but it was broken anyway, but couldn't find any cause for the calibration to do what it was doing.
I tested the new scale, didn't have any gram weights, but I did have a part from something that I weighed a few years ago and marked it on the box, that part came out to the exact same weight as was listed, not a real for sure way of measuring, but it has to be darn near right on since both measurements agree with one another.
