Where would I look to find the best all around training to include starting up a coffee shop and learning how to be a barista? I am in Canada, however I will travel for the right program. Is it best to start from being a barista first, or jump right in with a shop/cart? Thanks for any insight as to how others managed to start on their journey.

I agree with eldub. I have joined the barista guild of America through SCAA, and the connections and education opportunities are quite bountiful. Also, hands-on experience is the best you can get. Get a job as a barback/barista at a local coffee shop and work your way up in that company as much as you can. Even Starbucks has something to offer when it comes to teaching you how to run a business.

Can I ask why you want to get into the coffee biz? Do you have any coffee knowledge at all? I would personally spend a load of time in cafe's watching. Talk to the staff and get their take on it. This is a hard business. I am not saying it can't be done..just make sure you know what you are in for before you jump head first.

I strongly suggest working at a shop to learn the ropes. But that can be hard with covid stuff, so there's a lot of digital education places you can visit (Barista Hustle, Boot Coffee Courses, etc). Tons of great resources at Coffee Fest, Fresh Cup too.

An essay can be a useful and challenging type of writing, and is often assigned either to be done in class, which requires advance planning and practice (and some creativity) on the part of the student, or as homework, which also requires a certain amount of time.

Chuckle... I just wish the local Baristas had your interest and devotion.
They produce sad cups of liquid disappointment in my area.
The one I visited last night had their espresso machine set to do a 7 second two ounce shot.

But, due to the low (learned) standards in my area, they stay in business.
