Difference between Aeropress and drip filter?

Both the aeropress and the french press make terrific coffee.

The Aeropress is a little more work to brew a cup. However, it's a LOT faster/ easier to clean than the french press. The french press allows you to make more than just one cup at a time, so...

If I'm making coffee just for me, I'll use the aeropress. If I'm brewing for my wife as well, then I break out the french press.

Just looked up a picture... so that little thing is supposed to be a quick replacement for an Espresso machine then? I wanted to start making Americano's at home here and there for a change of pace, but figured I needed an espresso machine to make it worthwhile. Is the Aeropress actually a viable alternative, or is it a poor substitute?

If you want cheap espresso set up, try out the Moka Pot. That would be very cheap replacement of your expensive espresso machine. It will give you decent espresso.
