I would suggest you try a lighter roast. Besides the decaf issue that Musicphan brought up dark roasted beans can clog up the works too.

I think you have it backwards. 1 is fine and 12 is coarse. Of course I'm basing this on the attached photo.

I don't think you have an option to change the puck packing on an automatic....(I just wanted to type "puck packing") :)

Philips automatic espresso extraction 6 seconds

It should take 20 seconds (approx) to pull the shot. The standard answer is "grind finer". I hate to assume but in your post you said "grinder 12" try grinding at 5...maybe 4 or 3.

What was your coffee beginning? Here's mine...

I started about 30 years ago with a moka-pot and a stove top milk steamer. After about 10 years one day the stove top milk steamer blew up on the stove and I upgraded to a Pavoni. The Pavoni worked great but wasn't good for more than 2 cups at a time. About 12 years ago I had to have emergency...

    DF54 static cling

I replaced the plastic dosing cup with a metal dosing cup from Amazon for $9.99 and I'm still doing the extra firm pump on the bellows but I haven't used the brush in the chute for weeks and I'm still static free. I really blame the plastic cup for the static but I'm not willing to go back to it...

Trouble shooting an ECM espresso machine

Well....sound like you need to pull the pump and test it out of the machine...possibly replace it. While you're at it pull the heater too and test it and possibly replace it. What kind of machine is this? 8 years old is not THAT old...but hey...everything is fixable - right?

Trouble shooting an ECM espresso machine

I'd look at the over pressure switch and over fill switch. It's odd that a heater would start to heat and then stop. My guess is something is tripping (a fuse, a switch) and stopping it.
  10. M

Trouble shooting an ECM espresso machine

I would let it cool down and turn it on again and see if it repeats (starts heating and quits). Could be a faulty fuse or overpressure switch. Also, do you have a voltmeter? The first thing I would check is the heater and see if it's getting power.

Delonghi Magnifica ESAM 4200 steam problem

I would look at the overfill sensor. My guess is it's allowing too much water into the boiler and consequently there isn't enough room in the boiler for steam as it's filled the boiler too much/high. Especially since you said the pump is moving slow. It's probably trying to pump water into an...

    Float Valve Jura Z 10

how will adding a float valve make the z10 use less water? Maybe a better question is how do you know it's using a lot of water? is the internal coffee ground pan or the drip tray filling up a lot? Is it leaking out the bottom? Have you looked inside to see if a hose is leaking?

Jura E6 - cup counter is missing?

I've had 2 E6's, great machines! I don't believe the counter is accessible. The machine keeps an internal counter of cups made and after some number of cups (I don't remember how many) it has you run the cleaning process and then resets it's counter...but as far as I remember it not something...

    DF54 static cling

What I have found that works is once a week I use a small round 2" long brush to clean out the chute and every time I grind (after I remove the portafilter) I give the bellows a couple of good strong pumps to clear it out. So far (2 weeks) this seems to be keeping the static issue at bay.

    DF54 static cling

When I ponder why it happened in the first place I wonder if it was due to the newness or manufacturing of the machine OR possibly the plastic cup that catches the grounds (which I don't use anymore). Descaling

Just so it is said, DO NOT use RO or distilled water in any machine! If water does not contain minerals it will acquire minerals from it's surroundings - like the inside of your machine's boiler and pipes which pretty much will slowly over time dissolve the machine from the inside out. I have a...

Update: I've been using a small round brush to clean the chute, and after a good brushing (and watching the video I posted) I have NOT brushed it out or a couple of days. Also, I have been misting with 3 pumps and a good shake. Happily, I'm not getting the static mess. My plan is to see if I...

    La Marzocco GB5 Repair Questions

IMO (and I'm not a professional) $4800 is WAY too much for this machine. The machine is 10 years and most likely needs a through going over. Overpressure when first turn on machine early morning. La marzocco linea pb x. Any solution

My first thought is the expansion valve needs to be adjusted. The valve should not allow the boiler to build up that much pressure but if it was the expansion valve when you ran some water through the group head within a few minutes it would build the pressure back up. In any case, I would look...

Overpressure when first turn on machine early morning. La marzocco linea pb x. Any solution

Do you back flush the machine regularly? Has it ever been descaled? The simple answer is to open the group head valve and let the water flow for a few seconds when you turn it on.
