Why would you want a low acidity bean for cold brew? Cold brew will already give you much lower acidity so if you start with a low acid bean you might end up with an unbalanced flat drink. But still, to answer your question, a good Bresilian bean would normally be low in acid.
The temp settings (both charging temp and end target temp) are dependent of the line voltage but will also vary from one machine to an other because of the heater element. A replacement of the heaters mean you have to take care to your temp settings as it will most certainly vary. I have high...
I never heard here in Canada of the Jasol multi purpose cleaner. I will check just in case at various hardware stores around me but anyway Simple Green does a good job for me if i dig it in the water for few hours. But thanks, if i can find this stuff i will try it for sure.
My Filter units...
Here is a quote from the guys at CTE, they where explaining the main difference between the two roasters:
"
Solar is 2kg capacity at maximum and not recommended for less than 1kg. FZ-94 is 2.4kg capacity at maximum and allows easily roasting even 100 grams while achieving the same profile...
I started roasting commercially exactly a year ago, i was roasting before on a small air roaster for home use only. But i got passionated about coffee roasting so much that i end up starting my little business. I am a commercial winemaker as my main job and certified wine judges and this help...
I have a Solar roaster with an Avirnaki. You can get about 5kg/hr, not more then that because of the in drum cooling that takes 8min. You can abort the in-drum cooling and do it outside in the cooling pan but you will have smoke and a lot of particules that the blower will remove if you do the...
I have a Solar Roaster and Avirnaki since a year and no problem at all. The smoke i get from the Solar on a 2kg batch is quite important and as i am also in a residential area i needed to filter most of it. The Avirnaki do it perfectly, it remove about 95+% of the smoke and smell. My setting...
There is a new Keurig 2.0 that can make a carafe of coffee from a single larger K-cup. That could be the easiest way for you. But if you want something that taste better a large Espro press with a good burr grinder would be much better but of course require a little more work!
I only do 2kg batch at a time, I never tried smaller then that. You should not sell it, this is a great machine and I love the way you can so easely reproduce an exact roasting target. Each batches I roast are super consistent from week to week. Did three batchs last night again. I would...
I also use Sqare with my iPhone/iPad and simply love it. I have the Square register app on my iPad with all my products configured already with pricing, discount, etc and it is very easy and professional to use.
Yes it is easy to notice because the blower start and stop so very easy. I think it does it around 4 times per roasting cycle, maybe 2-4 seconds each time. That is the same blower that is used during the cooling cycle so it suck some hot air from the beans.
Yes. The ambient temperature will...
Forget to respond about the pricing...here in Canada with the shipping and brokerage both the Solar and Avirnaki are close to $10 000cnd each. Not cheap but I am happy ;)
I got my Solar roaster from The Green Beanery in Toronto and the Avirnaki directly from CTE. I really like this combo so far. With the Avirnaki I can roast in my basement! There is almost no smoke, only at the end of the cycle if you are going close to a dark roast. Now I have a duct install...
I recently got a Solar roaster from CTE with an Avirnaki. Still in testing period but I am getting better results. The problem I seem to struggle with is that I need to reduce both my pre-heat and target temp or I always get way too dark roast. Might have to do with my rather high voltage. I...
Ok I understand about the problem related to the marketing opening for such a list, thanks. I have read all on Sweet Maria web site and many others. The problem I have is there are tons of roasters, some are electric but are not manufactured anymore like for example the Diedrich HR1. Since...
I also use Roastmaster app on my iPad and this is a very good app. It can also track all your inventory just like your roasts. Just type Roastmaster app in YouTube and you will find their channel with few videos showing all the possibility.
Is there such a list here on the forum with all the electric small commercial roaster? Let say from 1-5kg batch. If not we could build one with link to their website, pricing, drum or FB, etc.. I am ready to start the list here in this thread. It would save me a lot of time if I already had...
I have some interest in CoffeeTech because there is a dealer not too far from me, the service I had with CT was superb, I have talk to few guys who roast on one and they seem to like it a lot. The automation could be interesting for accurate repeatability. About the cooling, most of the...
