Small white seed-like objects in the reservoir of my Bonavita coffee maker.

Thank you for your answer. That very well may be the case. it only happened a couple of times initially and hasn't since. The system has been in for three months now. Cheers

Small white seed-like objects in the reservoir of my Bonavita coffee maker.

Thanks for your reply. Every time I change the refrigerator filter I flush it out with a couple of gallons of water until it's clear. That's why I was confused by the small white pieces. Anyway it hasn't happened again, just that one time.

Small white seed-like objects in the reservoir of my Bonavita coffee maker.

After making coffee the other day, I noticed a few small white seed -like objects in the bottom of the Bonavita water reservoir. I'm not sure what they are. A few days before this I had put in a new potassium -based filtration system for the house and also replaced the filter in my...

    Roaster recommendations

I've been buying beans from my local roaster for a few years, but want to try something different. I prefer light to medium blends. I decided to do a search on ChatGPT for a short list of the better roasters. Among the ones mentioned were Stumpstown, Blue Bottle, Counter Culture,Ritual and...

I did end up sending it to Baratza for a rebuild and then had it shipped to my son. He said it works great.

New grinder to replace my Baratza Virtuoso +

I did finally get a reply from Baratza regarding the rebuild program. They also have an option for replacing the burr. I'm not sure if it needs to be replaced though.. I've had the grinder for four years and not sure how much degradation there is after four years on the burr but maybe better...

New grinder to replace my Baratza Virtuoso +

I've been happy with my Virtuoso plus for four years but wanted to send it in to Baratza for a rebuild, however they aren't responding to phone calls or emails and I am reluctant to send it in if there's no customer service. Perhaps this is all a result from post- pandemic. My budget is about...

Yes, I use Grindx about once a month and some inexpensive beans to run afterwards but not beans that are too oily.

    Recommendations for a bean grinder

A few years ago I bought the Baratza Virtuoso+ grinder based on recommendations from the forum. The grind is now somewhat inconsistent and I thought about rebuilding it myself or sending it to Baratza for a rebuild but I think I'll give it to my son and he can use it. in the meantime I'd like...

What’s first, descaling, or cleaning my coffee machine?

I was curious if it makes a difference which procedure I should do first, descaling or using a coffee machine cleaner? Thanks

Barratza Virtuoso + doesn't discharge all of the grinds.

I have a Barratza Virtuoso + grinder that works well, but after grinding,i clean the dischage chamber and about two tablespoons of grinds come out that didn't make it into the plastic container. Is this from the oils in the beans and maybe the grind setting? I usually set at 18 or 20 for my...

Information Please: Citric acid for descaling

I've read that plain old citirc acid can be used for descaling my coffemaker. But i think there are a few different grades of citric acid. Which one should i use? Looks a lot cheaper buying in bulk than spending $20 for "speciality" descaler powders. Thanks.

Flat bottom vs.cone -shaped filter baskets

I did a search before posting but didn’t find any information. I’ve always used a coffee maker with a cone filter basket but I am now considering buying a coffee maker with a flat bottom filter basket. Is there any advantage to the flat bottom over the cone in terms of brewing consistency? I...

New Baratza Virtuoso + owner question

I just bought the Baratza Virtuoso + burr grinder. I've never owned a burr grinder, so it's a learning experience for me. I do have one question. I set the grinder on 18 as per recommendations for my Bonavita 5 cup. and reduced the amount of beans for my friend because she likes the coffee...

Advice Please: Technivorm Moccamaster models - advice needed

I've decided on a Technivorm coffeemaker. I think one of the models, of which there are 6,with a glass carafe. it will be used daily and only a couple of cups. But occasionally family will visit so will make more. I like the KBG Select, but looks like it's more suited for half to full jugs. Also...

Advice Please: Technivorm Moccamaster and reliable grinder.

I'm a long time coffee drinker, but now that i'm retired, can spend time to research all that is coffee! I want to replace my Bonavita 5 cup (stress cracks in the plastic water reservoir) with the Technivorm Moccamaster. Pricey, but seems to be a favorite of many. I'm not sure the model yet...
