This roaster came in never having roasted a bean in 100 years, and missing some critical components.
  • We purchased a new motor, and machined a flat belt pulley.
  • The shafts were siezed, so we replaced bushings and got new leather flat belts.
  • The piping was missing, so we bent and welded new exhaust tubing.
  • There was no fan, so we designed, and tig welded our own.
  • A cyclone was built for chaff collection. The chaff collection bucket has a quick disconnect for removal.
  • We installed a ribbon burner with a needle valve for modulation and gauges to indicate the pressure for consistent roasts.
  • A thermocouple was installed and adjusted to measure bean temperature. And indicator was added to display the temperature. We verified the readout and operating conditions (400 F).
  • The cable was routed away from all heated and rotating surfaces.
  • The drum was insulated to provide safe use of the roaster.
  • A pan for the chaff was designed, cnc bent, and tig welded to collect any chaff from the perforated drum.

The roaster is now fully operational, painted, and on an oak base.

Capacity is 10 lbs of green coffee.
The voltage is 110v 60 hz.
Natural gas fuel at 7" w.c.

Air outlet is 6" in diameter.

Awesome job guys. History in the now! The red paint looks beautiful and so evenly applied in the video.
Hopefully some cafe will pick this up for a storefront application. The public would certainly enjoy seeing it in action.
Thanks for the post! If I did not have 2 gas roasters already, this would be very tempting!
Just curious, what is the asking price?
