I'm not sure what you're looking for regarding the role of coffee consumption.
Are you asking how much coffee the US military consumes?
Are you asking if military personnel consume a lot of coffee?
Are you asking about the role coffee plays in keeping our military personnel awake and alert?
Please clarify you question. We have some military personnel (active and retired) who are members of this Coffee Forum. Maybe someone can answer your question once they know what you're asking.

I discuss the consumption amount, whether caffeine help performance, and the DOD's recommendation. I have also been in correspondence with military personnel who personally relied heavily on coffee. If you'd like I can put you in contact with them. Hope this helps.
