Philip's 3200 expresso machine is this normal?

I have had a lot of water in my tray faster then normal about 4oz for each coffee to be exact. I noticed less coffee in my cup also. I ran the machine with the tray out and found 2 times during the process it dumps a good amout of water out of the back. See pick below. It is at the end of where the straw is pointing. Is this normal? What is it? The unit is 6m old fyi.
