Hi all,

I am currently in the process of setting up a brand new coffee company specialising in selling and promoting Vietnamese coffee in the UK.

Does anyone know of any contacts or advice for trading in Vietnam which you think may be helpful to me establishing some reliable suppliers and setting up the company?

I am looking to find a range of suppliers for the different varieties of coffee available ranging from the lower end right up to weasel coffee and will then be looking to brand it under my own label.

Any advice or comments will be gratefully received.

Many thanks

Shaun

I'm happy to point you to a good friend of mine, Jeff Browne, founder of Vietnomics (a non-profit aimed at linking Vietnamese businesses w/ US businesses), and also the founder of Temple Hills coffee; Temple Hills . Jeff was in Vietnam during '13 working with coffee farmers, and processors to secure all-Arabica beans. The crop he has available now is outstanding, but is small, since most growers are still used to growing robusta. When Jeff returned in Jan. he brought two samples for me to roast/cup/evaluate, and he's onto something good. Because he contracted for the crop at a higher price simply to get the farmers accustomed to the idea that there is good money in growing top-tier specialty-grade coffee, he stands to lose some of his own money for the short term, but thinks it'll be a good investment in the lives of the growers he's dealing with.

Tell him Peter from Milwaukee sent you. :)
