How does one find local roasters? I've looked in the yellow pages, I've searched online, I've looked on the chamber of commerce website.... nada!

So, where would I go to find a list of local roasters?

To find a local roaster... start with the www.transfairusa.org. They have a listing of companies that serve Fair trade certified coffees. Not all are roasters, but some are.

Try coffeegeek, too.

Digital city has a list of best coffee houses by city:

Also, try a yahoo yellow pages look up. http://yp.yahoo.com/ I've had good luck there. Set your location and then when results come up, look for a hyperlink called "beyond <your location> and it will search within a 50 mile radius.

I was disappointed to find no member listing on www.scaa.org. You'd think they'd want to pimp for their members, especially the roasters' guild. Go figure.

I did contact the local roaster "topher" suggested and they will sell me some green beans! The owner said it would be difficult to sell one type since their Espresso roast is blended. So, he is blending some beans to sell to me. I told him I was interested in home roasting only, so he agreed to help me out.

If I really like roasting, I am sure I will find a wholesale source like www.sweetmarias.com.

I'll let you know what I get from him!
