On Baratza's website, ordering a part for another grinder, I saw their "Stop! Don't Dump It - Fix It!" page and thought about an old, long-retired, Baratza Virtuoso sitting in the back of a cabinet. Looking into it a little further, I found that for $60 they would do the following:
BARATZA STANDARD REPAIR INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING
Diagnose problems
Replace worn/broken parts as needed (except burrs)
Thorough cleaning
Recalibration
Testing
Return shipping
6 month warranty
That sounded like a deal to me, so off the old grinder went. In addition to the $60 for the above, I popped another $49 to upgrade the old burr set to the later Preciso burrs, which are now standard on new Virtuoso's. Baratza received the grinder on 7/22 and shipped it back to me on 7/24. On the attached receipt, you will see the repairs made were extensive. I think the cost was reasonable and the service amazing!
