I still can remember the worst coffee I've ever drunk. It was my "hello, sunrise," cup from a pot that was brewed sometime during the eve watch when I was in the Navy years ago. After being heated for 10 or more hours in a huge stainless steel vat, the coffee was rough, to say the least. But we watch-standers weren't allowed to make a fresh pot until right before the day workers arrived. And their arrival marked the end of our watch.
Despite those awful, bitter cups, I managed to retain to my liking for coffee.
My wife recently bought me a French press, and I've retired the drip coffee maker and I am enjoying this new way to brew our morning coffee. I also am having fun tinkering with the routine involved in making that coffee. (Somehow, I have to get the dog outside and collect the newspaper in the driveway during the process.)
I buy beans semi-locally and online and grind them myself each morning.
The best part is that my tastiest cup of coffee is still to come.
Thanks for having me here.
