Israeli Coffee

Friends of mine just got back from Israel. They are coffee drinkers. They mentioned Cafe Hafuch.

Israeli coffee experts told them "It is known as upside-down". They add coffee to milk instead of the other way around. The milk is first poured into a glass or mug and then a shot of espresso is added. It's the opposite way of making a regular cappuccino.

Oh yes, they did enjoy every cup.

Has anyone had this coffee before?
 
I have heard of this before...
Latte Macchiato. Not to be confused with espresso macchiato. It means milk stained with coffee where as espresso macchiato means espresso stained with milk. ;)
 
I'm an Israeli citizen, and spent 6-7 years there. Yes, it's common, most people drink either Turkish or hafuch, though there is a very good specialty coffee scene there as well. If you steam milk, then drop espresso in, or brewed coffee, it'll sink to the bottom, due to the temp difference, and create two distinct layers (or 3, of you froth milk and let it separate: coffee, milk, foam).
