I own an ECM Mechanika Slim HX espresso machine. I had a recent issue with it not heating up and after much testing traced it down to a faulty heating element. I ordered a replacement and installed it. Afterward I turned on the machine and it DID start heating up. I walked away and a few minutes later I heard a loud hissing sound. Rushed over to the machine and found a room full of steam and a counter top covered in water! I'm guessing I didn't tighten the heating element enough. I unplugged the machine and found the boiler had emptied. I dried everything and waited a day but ... not the relay switch light is not on and the machine seems to get hot but , something ain't right. Any ideas what to check for? I also managed to break the water tank so I can't really test it fully since the boiler is empty. BTW - I reinstalled the heating element and found it was not tight enough - this time I did a much better job and making certain that the heating element was screwed in tightly. I hope I didn't kill the machine!!!
