this is a little known grinder....i tried google and found NOTHING.....so wonder if anyone can comment or recommend or discourage to get this one? are they good or troublesome or finicky or noisy?

it's just on the auction website in my local country, but I'm not so sure...

Thanks in advance.
Graw.

Modus or Domus?

Domus is one of Cimbali's older line of espresso grinders. Not sure how long ago they quit making it nor if you can still get parts easily. Its not a bad grinder as it does its job fine.

Hi, thanks for your reply, a Modus, (smaller i think)..yea i wasn't sure about it, I did however suspect it might be been discontinued, but since its an import or not as famous as Mazzers or the Macaps , it was hard to know.
I think I'd give it a miss....actually I'm hoping to find out the price of a Quamar Q50e from a coffee technician in Auckland (NZ's biggest city, some 500Kms away from me), I don't want a boring Mazzer, nor the ugly Compaks, really like the Mahlokorig K30 but wow , pricy!! also its smaller brother the Vario has ceramic blunt burrs...it has very mixed reviews about how it influence the taste in the end - the cup.

Cheers,
Graw

Its funny you should say that cause I've always thought the K30 was about the ugliest grinder on the market. Considering Mahlkonig made the beautiful Guatemala bulk grinder I thought they put little effort into the K30. Simply wrapped a motor with a huge cylinder and slapped a generic hopper directly in the center.

Mazzer has always been function over form so yes they can look a tad generic. I'll tell you this much though they have nailed the Mini, Super, and the Major line of espresso grinders. They are all built to a T. They function all the same, just short of the fact each one gets progressively bigger they are solid as a rock. When it comes to Mazzer repair its pretty much one of 4 things. Power switch or timer, capacitor, burrs, and or broken return spring. Other than that you hardly find one with a burnt out motor or other broken internal pieces.

If you want to see a stylish Mazzer I might suggest you look at a Stark or a Kold. They have a slightly different look to them.

LOL, ok i had a look at Stark, not too bad, might be fiddly to get hopper out...Kold, OMG it's UGLY!!! and probably HEAVY, im hoping to receive a pricing information from Auckland on the Quamar Q50e (sorry i said that before), but that do look smoother...and hopfully with very competitive price for a grinder with an electronic dosser...
