Direct Hookup to Water Supply

I have a Saeco Incanto RS that I plumbed in for a direct water hookup.
I used a float mechanism similar to what would be used in a furnace humidifier.

My question is for anyone else who has tried something like this is...
Has anyone done a direct hookup without having to use the tank and float. The last photo here is of the tank connection.
I was thinking of plumbing the 1/4 line directly in to that connection, but not sure if there would be a problem internally from applying water pressure to the system?


Ideas?

Not to burst your bubble but no your not the first to do this. Your method of doing this raises a few concerns. Mainly that of sanitation. A lot of the products out there that allow for auto filling are not made of food grade/safe material. So you may have leaching going on. You need to be really careful here.

As for safer products you might try looking up the Jura Auto fill its roughly the same idea except its sealed in a plastic box that slips over the side of the tank. The float is about the size of a thimble that rides in a guide. Its all food grade material so no leaching can occur.

Thanks for the reply. The particular float that I purchased is from a supplier of "food grade" products and it is certified to be safe to use. My question pertains to a better way, since my method still requires frequent cleaning of the tank. I have an inline filter in the line which removes chlorine. The standing water in the tank (with no chlorine) tends to get bacterial buildup if not cleaned frequently. I'll check out the Jura Auto fill product.
