Dakin & Company (No 1 London). The history of the company goes back to 1793 in Birmingham. Dakin's Partner were Ridgway. They split into two separate trading entities in London in 1840 with Dakin's trading from 1 St Paul's Churchyard (photos). For the Great Exhibition of London 1851, they patented a cylinder coffee roaster and the original idea for the cafetiere (drawings of the patents). The history moves on to 1991 where we change trade to sandwiches for the remaining shops. I am the present owner and, at 77, am looking for somebody to carry on the legacy. There is a lot of coffee memorabilia including 2 Otto Swadlo 12kg which were used in our City of London shop.
