For the second time in less than 2 years, Indonesia has been hit by a devastating earthquake. At 5.53 this morning DKI Yogyakarta was shaken awake. Central Java is not a prominent coffee growing area, like the province of Aceh is, but there is still quite a bit of medium altitude Arabica (as well as a lot of robusta) grown in the hinterlands between Yogya and Semarang on the North coast. It would be really great if all at coffeeforums could contribute to a reputable charity- red cross, doctors without borders, UNICEF etc where a donation is likely to make its way to those on the ground who need help. We will be doing all we can here at Merdeka Coffee to help those in Central Java at this time. Our prayers are with those in Central Java at this time.
