Hey again guys,
Haven't been active here in a little while, I had some things to attend to.
But I'm back :)
The question is that I'm looking to make a coffee martini. I have found a few recipes, but have to admit I have had no interest in cold espresso drinks before, as the crema is...
Its seems as if every bag of "espresso beans" that I buy does not state the origin and is always a relatively dark roast (like a vienna or light french roast).
Why is that?
And also, what happens if you do try and pull lighter roasts or single origin coffee beans?
Hey guys, I'm doing a grade 12 science fair soon and I'm wondering if I can make a science fair out of coffee somehow?
Maybe espresso extraction or something like that. Any ideas?
I made my first affogato and my first romano today.
The affogato was very rich and was fun to make and eat.
It adds a sweet, rich flavor for those who find espresso a little overwhelming (not me haha). But all the same, it was great.
The romano, to my surprise, was actually great too. I mean...
I finally figured out how to pour!
The problem I had is I wasn't shaking the pitcher to let the frothed milk out, I was just waiting until I ran out of steamed milk and a blob or frothed milk would come out.
Heres what it looks like:
While its a horrible rosetta (looks like a christmas tree...
Hey guys.
Just wanted to say I have today off and I'm having a great morning so far.
I got up and opened a fresh bag of 100% arabica Sumatra & Costa Rica Blend whole beans. Fresh ground them in my burr grinder and thew it into my auto-drip. A fantastic cup of coffee to say the least.
While I...
Alright, I was very bored and I'm stuck home in a snowstorm. I decided to try running some espresso beans through and automatic drip.
Ewwww, to say the least.
The somewhat dark roasted espresso beans produced a very blan and monotone flavour with a very dry finish.
Never again, hahah.
I'm looking for a new home espresso machine.
My Delonghi has "blown up" within a month.
The new machine definitly needs to pump driven (with 9 bars+) and with a non-pressurized pf basket.
I'm looking in the $150-$350 range.
Thank,
- Matt
Delonghi machine blew up this morning while I was pulling a shot.
It blew around where the machine holds the pf, not on the gasket, but outside that.
The pic:
As you can see its leaking between the metal and the plastic.
I guess thats what I get for buying a cheap machine.
I can't get...
Anyone know if the store coffee and company (I think its a chain) has decent espresso beans?
The menu board says roasted and shipped in the same day.
Matt
I have a delonghi cafe chic http://www.delonghi.com/delonghi/data/int/CDN_Eng/Prodotti.nsf/b912ead30a9700cdc12569d000402e05/107b5f341de345318525703c006b8f08?OpenDocument.
I am interesting in modding this machine. I am looking at a possible open double portafilter spout and maybe a naked...
Hey again guys.
I just bought what I though to be a Delonghi Burr Grinder with 16 grind settings and a whole bunch of other things. I cant find it on the internet ANYWHERE. The box says its a model of "DCG601".
However, I did find a "CG600" Alpine burr grinder made by La Pavoni. It looks...
Heres a quick picture of my latest single shot of espresso. Ive got a pretty good crema with the "tigerstripe" pattern I keep hearing is good. Comments?
A photo of my first non-needle latte art, a rosetta. Really poor job on it but I'm working on it.

And any tips are helpful.
