The problem with blade grinders are heat and fines. I ordered one anyway for various reasons and I'm considering investigating exactly how much heat is generated from pulsing it with one serving of coffee beans. I could get a cheap infrared thermometer from Malaysia for $6.99.
To help reduce...
Unfortunately, mine didn't work so I had to return it. The timer worked but it only caused the light to shut off at the selected time. The motor never started. I think there's a coating on the steel burr that can wear off and get in the coffee. I'm guessing that plain stainless steel would be...
I admit I still prefer my old, mild instant coffee and I dislike many other coffees I've tried, both light and medium roast, but I just tried Nature's Promise Sumatra coffee (pour over) and I think I'll stick with Sumatra. I added 1/3 pack of artificial sweetener and some milk. It reminded me of...
Do drip machines automatically rinse paper filters? If not, then I may let the filter dry after I rinse it. I want to make sure the filter absorbs the cholesterol raising oils like studies say. I'm not sure of the methodology used so I was wondering if it works when wet.

I've been hating my pour over coffee so far. Next time I'm going to watch the drips and when they get significantly clearer, I'll remove the filter and pour water directly into the cup. Do any coffee makers stop brewing when the drips reach a certain clarity? That may be a good invention.
Those pots with the narrow gooseneck are expensive so I searched for a funnel with a handle and extra small opening on the bottom and I found something called "Sweet Egg Floss Stainless Funnel" on Amazon for $10 + $5 shipping. I think I'll experiment with a regular gooseneck coffee pot and if it...
I just ordered a Bee House pour over "cone brewer" but I still have a mostly full jar of Choc-full-o'Nuts instant coffee. Should I use it? I'm not throwing it away so I'm either using it for instant or for pour over.
Could someone recommend a small capacity coffee maker with no plastic parts that touch the water or the hot coffee? Stainless steel and glass would work for me. 16 oz. capacity would be perfect but I'll go a little larger if I must. Under $100, and it has to work with a paper filter. I read that...
