I don't want plastic touching my hot coffee

I don't make or drink basic coffee, but I have a friend that does, and he also has an Espresso machine, so he is also into coffee, and he has always been adamant to me, in the early days, if I wanted to make coffee, to get a basic, old school percolator. He feels that it makes the best coffee...

Re: Shot Times & Standards **Please Read Before Posting**

Interesting thing happened today. Keep in mind that I am a beginner, even though for many years, I had a Saeco Aroma (with pressurized portafilter). I also know that you are not an advocate of the guidelines, but I think that it is a good starting point for a beginner. Keeping in mind that I...

Re: Shot Times & Standards **Please Read Before Posting**

I saw a Youtube video about going by how the shot comes out based on the things you mention, but now I don't know where that is now. I am not that advaned yet, but also, I feel that my Lattes taste best with shots pulled outside of the quoted times: probably around 38 seconds. Danny

Wish I Knew More About Various Coffee Machines

I looked back at the original poster's posting again, and they ask whether or not they should get the DēLonghi machine quoted, or something that spits out a Coffee drink from a button push, so maybe they intend to try other drinks, but we really don't know for sure right now. I am not sure if...

Wish I Knew More About Various Coffee Machines

If we knew that the original poster wanted to branch out into other drinks such as Lattes or Cappucinos, as an example, we could then recommend them getting a full Espresso machine setup of some sort. Maybe they just want to get the machine "for show", to impress visitors. Right now, without...

Re: Shot Times & Standards **Please Read Before Posting**

Should there be an update to the sticky for shot times? I still keep seeing different things regarding that. For example, do you start timing as soon as you lift the brew lever, or when the Espresso flow has just started? Do you maybe start timing when the lever is lifted, but count time from...

Wish I Knew More About Various Coffee Machines

That is true. However, the original poster just wants to make and drink black Coffee or an Americano. Isn't an Americano just Espresso watered down to simulate basic black Coffee? Why not just make the real thing, with less equipment, money and expertise needed, let's say, by using something...

Steam issue on Lelit Anna 1

Is the original poster's machine a single boiler? I forgot about that on single boilers. Ok, I researched the machine. It is a single boiler. Danny

Steam issue on Lelit Anna 1

You should open up your steam valve for some seconds after you pull your steam wand out of the steamed milk. That will purge/blow out milk up in the steam wand and will eliminate or greatly reduce the plugging you have experienced. Danny

Wish I Knew More About Various Coffee Machines

Yes, you are absolutely correct. You are probably best served by a Coffee Machine of some type, not an Espresso Machine, and that will cost less. Danny

Wish I Knew More About Various Coffee Machines

You are a coffee drinker, and I am not. I drink Espresso based bevarages, primarily Lattes or Flat Whites. There is a difference between Espresso and Coffee. I looked at the machine you referenced. That is an Espresso machine. You could buy an Espresso machine, and make Coffee, sort of...

    Saeco Aroma Issue

Hi, I got a Saeco Aroma around Christmas time and it's been a fun learning experience. The machine has run well so far and has been a great starter machine to see if I enjoy doing this, and I do. One slight issue has cropped up since it was new, however. The mahine has gotten a bit messier to...
