Yesterday I ordered from Sweet Maria's, 18 pounds, one large box. Shipping was $109 U.S. I do get coffee from Canada with free shipping. I was hoping for better coffee from S.M., but this is ridiculous. Over $20 CAD a pound.
I stir the sludge, making sure that all of the ground coffee is wet. And, sometimes, I brew it in a stainless steel cup, let it sit for 2 minutes, then pour.
I have the Acacia scale. I aim for 95 grams with the plastic filter, paper and finely ground coffee. Unfortunately, the expensive Acacia doesn't work. So I generally use 4 or 5 scoops with half mug of Yeti. It's better this week, with Gutamela. Last week was Uganda, like dishwater. Rancilio...
Thanks: My coffee is usually much darker than the pictures. maybe too dark. I use Sweet Helena's, and Pre-umber (Canada) - free shipping. I try a variety of beans. maybe i should reach out, and ask the supplier for the strongest beans.
You might be on to something. I had been pouring the water...
Hi: I use a pour over, filter coffee. I roast my own beans, have a great grinder, fine ground beans. Use 4 or 5 Peet's coffee measures, for about half a mug. It still comes out weak and tasteless. Any ideas? Right now, I'm warming up the espresso machine, to get my caffeine fix for the day...
Dear Georgia: I learned much from your questions. I use a fine grind, thinking that there will be more strength to the finished product. I don't know how people get by with 2T of coffee, I use 4, sometimes 5. Today I modified my method, and made the coffee (4T) in a stainless steel mug, stirred...
MP: Thanks: I tried the tap water today - no difference. I'm assuming it's the coffee itself. I just roasted a Tanzanian. I've had good luck with those beans. See how it tastes tomorrow morning. Jack
Thanks: I access the beans from Sweet Maria's, an assortment, roast with a Gene. I have a Fresh Roast, but it doesn't work in the winter. Grind with a Rancilio Rocky, set at about 10, quite fine. Use a Peet's spoon, which is 2 tablespoons, usually 4 of those, sometimes 5. The weight, with...
Hi : I think I do everything right, roast my own beans, grind them properly, use a filter. I use 4 scoops of coffee for about a half mug, and it turns out weak. I wonder what I'm doing wrong.
