for what it's worth, i keep mine in a 7 liter water bottle, (holds 11 kilos). i don't see the need for the green beans to breath. they will probably lose their moisture using your described method. why not invest in a large plastic container with top?
are you talking about the large nut on the bottom of the solenoid valve? i had a problem removing mine. what i did was put the valve body in a vice (gently) and used a pipe wrench (8-10") size and a little wd-40. and with a little effort, it finally broke loose. nut was a little chewed up though.
if it's a rotary style pump, it will have carbon fiber vanes that eventually wear out, and the pump pressure slowly drops. will not damage other components. imo, whatever you get it will probably need to be serviced first thing. a good descaling will be inevitable. i bought a machine that the...
in small production, labels are the way to go. easy enough to go into your adobe illustrator file and change things. i have 4 different labels made up: whole bean, ground, 250 gr and 500 gr.and they look more personal  here's mine
i'm in the market to buy a small grinder due to the fact that some customers are requesting ground. my two options are either the Grindmaster 875 or the Bunn G3. are these two roughly the same, or are there good points and bad points to each?
i think you are going over-board on the grinder and the fridge. why not put the milk on ice and get a lower cost grinder. what will these trikes be powered by?
here is a pic of a coffee trike (peddle power) in Lima, Peru
JJJ,
i have no climate control here, so i will just shell as needed, then roast. if you saw my other post how i store my beans, i'm using a 7 liter plastic bottle w/screw on lid. i would have thought it would have preserved the coffee better. maybe building up condensation on the inside. i will...
just did a bean storage test today. in Lima, it has been in the low 80's with 70% humidity. the beans i have in storage are in the parchment shell. last week i shelled 5 lbs. of beans to see what would happen after a week in a sealed container. i took a handful of previously shelled coffee, and...
went to a coffee trade show in Lima, Peru and saw creative things you can do with coffee beans!
1st. pic: coffee bean bracelet. 2nd. pic: girl on left wearing outfit made with coffee beans.
i'm getting a very slight skunky type smell from my roasted beans. it seems to occur when the beans are 10 or more days post roast. whenever i open the bag to grind the beans, i can smell the slight skunky smell filling the air. other than that, the coffee is good. anyone else have an experience...
it greatly depends on how the coffee beans were/are stored. green coffee beans should be kept in an airtight container away from heat and light. in those conditions, they should last very long. i get my beans while they are still in the parchment shell, therefore, maintaining more of the...
as a treat, my mom would give us a slice of wonder bread on a saucer, pour some coffee w/cream on it and sprinkle with sugar. i was about 5 yo when i had my 1st. taste of coffee. it was delicious! i grew up in a family of 6 kids, and we were like baby birds, always having our beaks open for...
the best coffee i've ever had comes from here. it is in Namballe, Peru, which is about 500 miles, or 24 hours away from me by several connecting buses and is in the middle of nowhere. about 5 miles south of Ecuador. heres a couple pics. i also have to deal with the extremely poisonous banana spider!
just out of curiosity, i would like to know others bean weights. just randomly take a handful of green beans and count out 100, and weigh them. i know some scales will be slightly different from others, but to just get a general idea.
here are my 2 origins:
origin #1: 20 grams per 100 beans...
here are the specs from my NS pfs.
ears at 2&7 o'clock
length of ear approx. 26 mm.
o.d from ear to ear approx. 80.5 mm
o.d. of rim only 70 mm.
overall length 225 mm.
by the specs. seems yours will fit a
Nuova Simonelli machine.
look on the bottom of the pf for any logo.
I would like to raise the price on my 250 gram bags of coffee, but dont really know the best/nicest way to do it. i dont want my (few) clients to say "thats to high". the projected increase will be $1.85 usd per 250 gram bag .
p.s. i will be telling them via email since this is the way i have...
I have been working on designing a label to fit my product, and finally decided on this one. The coffee will be sold in Lima, Peru, therefore, the name is in spanish. any and all input would be greatly appreciated :-)
I have been searching for a coffee bean hulling machine, and all I get is alibaba.com with all Chinese models. My preference would be to purchase a small one In the U.S. and send it to South America where it will be used. Capacity wise, I would like to do at least 1 kilo at a time, and powered...
I dont know to much about roasting, but had this phenomenon. After roasting, sometimes I get shiney oily looking beans, and other times I get just a roasted bean with no apparent oil on the surface. Is this due to temperature changes. Which is best, or is there a difference. I welcome any...
More and more people in other countries are slowly turning their preference towards coffee. In England their has been a shift away from tea and more towards coffee. I am in a country in South America where tea was the preferred drink. Now after 10 years of close observation, I see many cafe's...
