My PID'd Rancillio Silvia espresso machine is about one and one-half years old. For some time it has been loosing prime between shots. I drink a latte and when I start to make the next one the boiler must fill with water before it will start pumping through the head.
I work around this by...
I bought three pounds of Selva Negra green beans because I liked their story and the price was right. I found that it makes a very good single origin espresso and it is now one of my mainstays.
Selva Negra is a coffee plantation in Nicaragua owned by the same family for over one-hundred years...
I have had my Silvia for a couple of months now. My drink of choice at the moment is an americano with 2/1 water/coffee ratio. I am getting consistently good cups of coffee. Better than anything I have ever had at home. Better than most coffee shops serve.

I brought my new PID Rancilio Silvia espresso machine home last night after waiting 2 1/2 weeks for delivery. I have been cooking my home roast in a French press for 3 months and I was ready to move to the next phase of coffee enthusiasm.
I chose the Silvia because there was general consensus...
I am trying to figure out how to get a thermocouple into an I-Roast.
Snake it in or drill a hole? I have a thermocouple meat-type thermometer with a pointed rod on the end of the wire. Will this work?
Can anyone point me to pictures?
Thanks in advance.
